Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today.  I am here on behalf of Patients First, a government initiative that  focuses on improving access to fast and reliable healthcare, connecting patients to all available healthcare services, and supporting patients by providing them with the education, and knowledge they need to make decisions about their health. 

I would like to interview you today to discuss your experience as a parent using our health care system. I am asking for your personal experience, so there are no right or wrong answers. Your answers will be kept confidential and will only be used for the purposes of this project.

• Have you done any online research over the last year related to your child’s health/ development? If so, what type?
• What prompted you to do the research?
  

DOCTOR’S VISIT

• Do you have a primary care provider?  What type? Doctor/ Pediatrician?
• How many times have you taken each child to doctors/ medical providers/ labs, etc.  on average over the last year?
  

SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

• When was your last visit to a doctor? 
• What prompted the visit/ booking?
• What did you take into consideration when booking the time/ date?
• How long did you plan to spend at the doctor? How long did you actually spend? Was there a variance? Why?
• What did you expect to happen at the appointment? Why did you have these expectations? What were they based on? What actually happened?  Was there a variance? Why?
• How do your children react when they know they have to go to the doctor?
• Did you do anything to prepare your child for the visit? What? Why?
• How do they react during the appointment?
• How do they act after the appointment?
• Was any follow up action required after the appointment? If so, How long did it take?
• Did you book a follow up appointment? Why? Why not?
